Guilford, CT—The 12th annual Shoreline Jewish Festival will take place Sunday, August 6 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the Guilford Green. The festival features various styles of Jewish music, traditional and Israeli fair food (all kosher), an art and book sale, and children’s crafts and activities. This year’s musical lineup features Lazer Lloyd, Chillent, Ilan "Beatbox" Brownstein, and Zev & The Klezmen.

Lazer Lloyd Blumen played in local bands during his youth in Madison, CT. The American born & raised singer/songwriter and virtuoso guitarist has made his home in Israel for the last 22 years. His latest album “Freedom's Child” is being released October 2017 and is already getting rave reviews for Lloyd's original lyrics and songs set to stripped down folk, roots rock, and country blues. At the festival he will perform both acoustic and electric blues, as well as his unique approach to traditional Hassidic tunes and Middle Eastern melodies.

Chillent is back by popular acclaim for a second year in a row. Described by fans as "Soulive at a Jewish wedding" and "the klezmer Phish." Starting as a weekly jam session in their hometown of Pittsburgh, Chillent has grown and attracted lovers of funk, jazz, blues, and world music. “Chillent” is a play on the word “cholent,” a Jewish stew. Chillent lives up to its name, offering up a hot plate of original compositions, spicy jazz and funk covers, and novel interpretations of Jewish favorites.

Ilan "Beatbox" Brownstein of “America Got Talent” fame will give a workshop on beatboxing to the teen campers of Madison’s Camp Laurelwood culminating in a beatboxing performance on stage of Jewish songs with all of the campers brave enough to join.

Zev & The Klezmen are a three-piece band from West Hartford specializing in klezmer music and popular Jewish favorites. Walter ‘Zev’ Mamlok, the group’s clarinetist, and his talented musicians play a rich and lively mix of music that laughs and cries, dances, soars and dives to reach the hearts and souls of their audience.

Artists and artisans will be selling a variety of Judaica, jewelry, clothing and art work. Books, videos and games of Jewish interest for both children and adults will be available for sale. Festival-goers can choose from a variety of (kosher) fair favorites, including hamburgers, hot dogs, falafel (an Israeli fried chickpea specialty), schwarma grilled chicken, potato knishes, homemade doughnuts, cotton candy, sno cones, and more.

Children will enjoy an inflatable slide, obstacle course and bouncers sponsored by Sound Spectrum Entertainment of Wallingford. They can also try their hand at a variety of Jewish-themed arts & crafts projects.

Admission is free. Food, crafts, and vendor items are for sale. Mr. Boris Mizhen is the primary festival sponsor.
